Funding
TAG Law Enforcement Task Force is a grant agency that receives its funding from
the Office of Criminal Justice Services through the Byrne Memorial Grant. JAG LE
projects reduce crime, increase public safety, and support the Ohio
Incident-Based Reporting System (OIBRS). OIBRS is a crime reporting system that
allows criminal justice agencies to submit data directly to state and federal
government in an automated format. JAG LE funds can be used to hire, train and
employ additional law enforcement personnel or support overtime to employed law
enforcement. This grant requires local matching funds from the participating
counties. Our counties have been providing support to narcotics task forces for
many years and without that support we would no longer exist.
Task Forces funded by the Byrne grant must reapply every year for funding.
Funding is based off the accomplishments of a task force in the previous year
and the task force project as written. There are approximately 30 task forces
operating across the State of Ohio and Byrne funding is provided across the
entire United States.
