WINDSOR TOWNSHIP — Surveillance over several months at a Fortney Road
property for suspected drug sales paid off Dec. 20 with sheriff’s deputies
and the Trumbull, Ashtabula Group (TAG) drug enforcement task force.
Arrested after an undercover officer made a covert drug buy, were Johnathan
L. Byler, 21, of 5086 Route 322, Windsor, and his brother, David S. Byler,
20, of 8369 Fortney Road in Windsor. Both men were transported to county
jail.
Johnathan Byler was charged with trafficking in drugs (powder cocaine), and
possession of drugs. David Byler was charged with possession of drug
paraphernalia including digital scales. They were cited to appear in Western
County Court on the charges.
Armed with a search warrant from Eastern County Court, the Ashtabula County
sheriff’s SWAT team raided the 8309 Fortney Road house. Inside they found
David Byler and his father, James A. Byler, 43, and a 21-year-old sister,
Melissa Byler.
During the search deputies found a large amount of powder cocaine, cash and
several firearms. The cash and drugs were found in a bedroom safe at the
house, the reports show.
TAG officers had watched the property for some time noticing a large volume
of traffic entering and leaving the premises.
