An Ashtabula man was arrested before sunrise
this morning on warrants issued by local and federal law-enforcement
agencies, according to Lt. Van Robison of the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s
Department.
Robert Turner was located at 900 W. 48th St.,
and served the warrant charging him with possession with intent to
distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and two counts of distribution
of crack cocaine, Robison said.
Warrants also were prepared for local resident
Rodney Taylor, charging him with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of
crack cocaine and one count of distribution of crack cocaine, Robison said.
Taylor had not been located as of early Friday afternoon.
A search warrant also was served at 722 W. 39th
St., in Ashtabula, Robison said.
Officers from county and FBI special weapons and
tactics teams helped serve the warrants because of reports weapons may have
been on the premises, Robison said. No firearms were located, but officers
did confiscate a small amount of drugs and some cash, he said.
A briefing among county deputies, Ashtabula
police and agents of the FBI, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and
Trumbull-Ashtabula-Geauga Law-Enforcement Task Force preceded the operation,
which began around 4:30 a.m., Robison said.
A joint investment among sheriff’s and Ashtabula
city detectives, FBI and DEA resulted in the warrants, Robison said.
“It’s a good example of cooperative effort among
county, city and federal agencies,” he said.
