WARREN - A local man remained in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $50,000
after pleading not guilty Monday to a first-degree felony charge of drug
trafficking after police raided his home late Friday and early Saturday.
Michael Kuntz, 31, of 1648 N. Park Ave., also is accused of having more than
55 collectible Barbie dolls that had been reported stolen July 9 from a shed
behind a home on Palmyra Road S.W. in Lordstown.
Besides the dolls, money, guns and drugs were confiscated by agents with
Trumbull-Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force during a search of the
home.
Agents said they obtained a search warrant from Warren Municipal Judge Terry
Ivanchak following a three-month investigation surrounding Kuntz and his
home.
Agents seized more than two pounds of cocaine, three pounds of marijuana, a
surveillance camera, drug paraphernalia, prescription drugs, ammunition,
more than $4,500 in cash and three loaded guns, including a Tech 9 automatic
weapon.
Also recovered were the Barbie dolls, valued at between $5,000 and $10,000,
and power tools, which police also identified as stolen property.
Kuntz was scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Aug. 10,
but sheriff's deputies say his case could be presented to a grand jury
before that time.
The investigation and search was done by TAG, the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and its special response team, the Cleveland Narcotics Unit, Trumbull County
Sheriff's Office investigative division and the Lordstown Police Department.
