Attempted Murder Suspect May Have Terrorist Ties
FBI: Videotape Found Showing How To Use Explosives
UPDATED: 7:24 AM EST March 30, 2004

ORWELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- An accused attempted murderer was found hiding out in northeast Ohio over the weekend.
Now the Terrorism Task Force of the Cleveland FBI said there may be more to this man's story.

They suspect Adel Yazidi may have been funneling money to terrorist groups, NewsChannel5 reported. Yazidi is a native of Yemen and was wanted by Indiana State Police on three attempted murder warrants. Investigators said they tracked him down at a female friend's trailer in Orwell Township in Ashtabula County. That's about 3.5 hours away from LaGrange County, Ind., where he's accused of firing seven rounds into a car.  Investigators searched the trailer and his car and said they found more than 1,000 counterfeit cigarette tax stamps. They suspect Yazidi was selling smuggled cigarettes for cash to fund terrorist groups.

Detectives said they also found an SKS assault rifle they believe was used in the shooting, and some disturbing videotapes showing how to use explosives. "We just saw things getting blown up. Whether a terrorist group copied off another movie or home video, we're not certain," said one investigator.

Another odd twist to the story: investigators said Yazidi changed his birthday on his driver's license from 7-11 to 9-11.
He's currently being held in the Trumbull County Jail awaiting extradition back to Indiana.
